Mani: I am Mani P S from Global Academy of Technology, Bangalore. I am pursuing my CSE final year and aspire to enter the IT world with a leading corporate. In the long term, I see myself working with the RnD of a company that takes interest in philanthropy.

Aspiring Minds: What difficulties did you face while searching for a job and how did you overcame those difficulties?

Mani: Top companies are not always around for campus recruitment in non-ivy league colleges. As a student placement coordinator and with the support of my college, we've managed to create a few opportunities. AMCAT really helps. I took up my AMCAT test on the 9th of October at college and got my 1st offer letter from Mindtree (via AMCAT) on the 29th of October.

Aspiring Minds: Tell us about your experience post giving the AMCAT test and how AMCAT helped you in getting the job at Mindtree?

Mani: I'd done a blunder of submitting my programs as soon as I got 1 in the programming round. This is due to being overly used to programming contests. I was regretting this since the other question was simple as well and I had more than enough time to crack it. Anyhow, I got good scores in AMCAT and got shortlisted for Mindtree's recruitment process. Having come via AMCAT, I skipped through 2 rounds and had my face to face interview directly. As they say, the rest is history.

Aspiring Minds: Would you suggest other job seekers to take AMCAT? If yes, why

Mani: Yes, for 2 categories of people in particular.

1. If you are capable but not part of an ivy-league college, it’s your chance at showing the world that you are just as good.

2. If you are dejected after applying off-campus multiple times and not getting called for interview, since AMCAT is a quick way to get those calls.

Aspiring Minds: Would you like to share some tips which can help other job seekers in getting a good job?

Mani

1. Schedule AMCAT and do a thorough study of the test pattern well in advance. It helps with planning and time management during the test.

2. Be very strong in Aptitude (we often forget the actual meaning of this word and tend to look at this like a mathematics paper). Each person has the inherent ability to solve problems logically. Please do.

3. Be strong at English grammar and communication. It’s crucial not just for cracking aptitude tests but also in the interviews, after getting selected.

4. Have a positive attitude and don't let failures stall you.
