Aspiring Minds Launches Automated Simulated Assessment for Assessing Debugging Skills

A Software Professional, on joining a new organization, is expected to get acclimatized with the incumbent system as soon as possible and use the existing code to make new features/product. The Debugging module checks this ability of a candidate to understand code and fix bugs (syntactical/logical) and use existing code to introduce a new functionality.

The candidate is given a simulator environment which mimics the use case which he/she will encounter while on job. The test checks two main verticals in the programming domain :

  • Ability to fix errors in the code - candidate has to identify and then rectify different types of errors like Compilation error, Logical errors and Run time
  • Ability to reuse code - candidate is given code functions which he/she has to understand and then use them to give a solution to the posed problem. The more proficient developers would be able to abstract the details provided in the helper functions and use them as black boxes to accomplish the task at hand. The candidate would be given sufficient examples for him/her to understand the usage and not get stuck with the interfacing details.

The module is extremely useful for assessing potential software professionals for debugging or developer profile. It can be easily deployed over computer to assess candidates for a large scale walkin hiring event also.
